After I noticed Firefox has removed the Pocket branding but kept the Pocket stories, I also noticed the settings screen on the homepage no longer lets you disable sponsored stories or links.

Firefox 115:

Firefox 139:

You can still remove these advertisements, but you have to leave the homepage and dig through the settings to find that option.

As long as this is optional and can be turned off, I think there are bigger problems right now. Its not optimal off course and it would be better to opt-in. At least there is the option to turn it off.

As long as it is not 100 % ass it is okay and also something something whataboutism, still better than…

Stop arguing like that. If it’s bad, it’s bad

yeah. from “not 100% ass” to the next “not 100% ass” we always end up in the enshittified mess we are right now.

we gotta learn to say no to shit.

Don’t tell me how to argue and how i feel about it. Not everything is white and black. There is grey and color in between.

I like multiple rows of shortcuts when they don’t have ads in them

      You are not.

I also go so far as to completely remove the options for anything on home/newtab from the prefs page.

I didn’t mind the shortcuts and such on a new tab page, but add…just no.
