Are they really able to replicate pornography like that? I know that for normal stuff, the videos are only under ten seconds or so.

Let’s also remember that AI has many different meanings. It depends on what technology they’re using. AI is just literally a type of computer program that can be used for a variety of things.

Not banning good people, banning wrong people.

I was hoping you’d play along :’(

Cool

I have been doing IT since 1867 and I’ve never run into an issue.
Banning ideas and opinions is not banning fascism. But let’s start over. First, they banned me. All I did was say that banning people for having the opinion “Israel should exist as an entity” is authoritarian. I wasn’t even defending Israel, which, like I said, people should be allowed to do as part of normal freedom of speech.
Second, I didn’t even say anything extreme, like “you should be hanged for treason!” or some such nonsense. I said “you have the right to ban people for whatever you want since it’s your instance, but I think that’s fascist if you do so.” And they banned me. Do you think that’s even remotely normal behavior?
Banning people for their behavior and conduct is perfectly reasonable. Also, if some Israel defender comes in and says “I don’t care how many children need to be killed, it’s worth it,” then I think you have every right to ban them. Advocating murder is crazy shit. But simply saying “Israel has a right to exist” or something similar as being ban worthy? That’s absolute ghoulish authoritarianism. There’s no such thing as “banning fascism” because this is just a discussion forum.
Fascists. Authoritarians. Whatever you want to call them. I’ll explain. They submitted a proposal to ban all “Zionists or Zionist apologists” and I objected on the grounds that it is, objectively, the very fascism they were denouncing. They banned me simply for suggesting this. That’s what I’m talking about.
Since you do not understand even the smallest aspect of what I said, you are not in a position to make such a judgment.
“Strong left bias” is not bias, it is just a reflection of normal human decency. If you mean that fake leftists like the dbzero fascists are around a lot, I would agree and it’s a problem.

It was censored right next to it not being censored. Rather amusing.

All the folks from the UNIX tradition really are/were. MIT and Bell Labs were just amazing.

Yeah, it really annoyed me that the author of this piece doesn’t understand the distinction between AI as a concept (always around in computing) and AI as in LLMs and the other stuff.
We have this in the US but the states have a significant amount of sovereignty in law making. Most laws are local. I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just saying I don’t think it has to go down that route.
Why would you think that the European Union would be become like the USSR? It appears to be a frustrating bureaucracy at times, but I never got the impression that member states had to give up any significant amount of sovereignty.
Instant depreciation of a new car is worth it with the knowledge of newness with warranty. Buying used is a huge gamble. But yeah, I mostly agree that we need to encourage people like how I was encouraged: oh yeah just try it out!
It’s how some technical people are generally. It always kept me from spending time in tech spaces even though I was always interested. It’s no excuse to be autistic because plenty of autistic people don’t rip your head off for not understanding concepts.
Stack overflow is great for learning from posts that are marked as duplicate! I’ve learned the most from those lol
It sounds more like you think you are entitled to have access to a library to begin with. Why should one exist that you can exploit in a way that your business wants rather than one that respects freedom—this is where I completely agree with the software freedom folks.
If you work for a private business that is earning profit, I think it’s perfectly reasonable to expect to pay for a library or build it yourself. Why should something else just exist for your business to exploit?
