Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•The best answer to "when did Star Trek get woke?"English
0·17 hours agoS-tier satire of the conservative “Trekkie” (please Gene, I hope you’re being satirical). Real comments like that always make me think of Douglass Adams’ “rules” on growing old:
- Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
- Anything that’s invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
- Anything invented after you’re thirty-five is against the natural order of things.
Anytime someone says Star Trek’s progressivism was never “hamfisted” I usually just point them to the after school special that is Let that be your Last Battlefield:

0·6 days agoThat’s great, Etsy has allowed their marketplace to become overrun with slop, it’s nice to see the handmade stuff still around and getting love.

6·26 days agoThe only thing that the report sees for certain in the current situation is a quick division into winners and losers in the AI race. Big players who are able to absorb the costs will emerge as victors.
Victors in what? LLMs cost orders of magnitude more to operate than they generate in revenue and that looks unlikely to change anytime soon as costs keep going up.

3·26 days agoFirst of all, install this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bypass_Paywalls_Clean and never have to worry about a paywall ever again.
But also it’s odd because The Verge doesn’t do paywalls to my knowledge and when I tested the link in another browser I didn’t see a paywall either…

Hah! I definitely didn’t mean any shade at Zorin! I used it for a while too. I ultimately moved to Fedora Kinoite and now Bazzite for the exact reasons you described, the immutability makes it even harder to break than Zorin.
It’s great we have so many good options these days.

Anytime someone anywhere on the political spectrum uses the word “woke” without also defining what the fuck it’s supposed to mean I just cannot take them seriously.
