I put the feeders up to invite the songbirds, Mr Blue Jay. I’m not sure if anyone’s told you, but your song sucks and you eat too much.

I believe it’s a Steller’s Jay.
Definitely a Stellar’s. And they definitely love emptying bird feeders. Typically looking for something they like that’s not even in the feeder, seemingly. :/
They’ll scoop out everything looking for the peanuts. That’s why I have the wire on there, but it only slows them down a little.
Thats because its not a blue jay, it’s a stellars jay.
That’s why I use safflower seeds exclusively.
How much did they actually eat, and how much did they throw on the ground while trying to find the good stuff?

That IS a blue jay. In fact, West of the Rockies it’s the only blue jay.
The town next to mine is Blue Jay, CA. One of the first things anyone will tell you is that there’s no blue jays in Blue Jay, preferably said while you’re looking at the multitude of blue-colored jays. “Well, then, what are those?” you’ll say. “Steller’s jays.” And then you’ll never hear that name again.
