How could Firefox or Chrome block a system shortcut??

Not even that, because Gnome probably already has a shortcut for the emoji picker.
The thing is that I can already do
Super+.(or was it,, can’t remember now) and I get shown my emoji picker (which is not the GTK one, but the KDE one) for ANY app that I am using. No need for Firefox to help me on that.
In which situation does it make sense for Firefox to call for it instead of you yourself? This seems like bloatware to me.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•GrapheneOS calls on privacy focused app developers to boycott European Unified Attestation
1·2 months agoBut attestation is already “a thing”!! These companies are just asking for a more democratic system. Might not be the best idea ever, but it’s at least better than Google’s monopoly.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•GrapheneOS calls on privacy focused app developers to boycott European Unified Attestation
1422·2 months agoI started reading the full argument, and correct me if I am wrong, but don’t they always start with a defendable idea and end up simply sounding crazy as hell when they start talking unrelated shit about other projects?
Like, look at this: https://grapheneos.social/@GrapheneOS/116200362765756182
They are literally saying that their plan is to ban GrapheneOS. That’s CRAZY, and obviously not true. It’s basically paranoid. Which I guess fits 😅

LibreOffice@discuss.tchncs.de•LibreOffice blasts 'fake open source' OnlyOffice for working with Microsoft to lock users in
0·3 months agoNever a single “normie” that ever tried LibreOffice complained that “it doesn’t save to Microsoft format by default”.
They just say “I can’t find things in this interface” because they have been accostumed to Microsoft’s UI. That’s where OnlyOffice comes in. But it should definitely save new files as OpenDocument files by default. Otherwise, what a shitty move.

Linux@programming.dev•Linux Mint isn't the answer for Windows refugees anymore
1·3 months agoWell, it’s very easy.
I assume you have already linked your Google account with your Plasma user through the “online accounts” setting.
Then, you just go to the calendar app, or widget, and ✅ whatever Google Calendars you’d like to see from all the ones you have.

With PipePipe, I’ve had an amazing experience, in very very few ocasions I had videos failing on me, and when I went to F-Droid (with Izzy-On-Droid) there there was, the update that already fixed the issue.

Free and Open Source Software@beehaw.org•I accidentally became a FOSS maintainer and all I got was this lousy new perspective on librarianship
0·4 months agoOh, god, I thought I was the only one who fucking hates stale bots!!
As a maintainer, you should handle all issues, and yes, maybe classify them into “low importance” or even close issues where not enough data could be provided. But letting them dissapear under the rug??
What the fuck? That feels like you don’t give a shit. Someone made an effort to report something. Someone cared. Keep it in check! Be human!
I believe these stale bots are put by people who want to keep their issues at a low number so they look “better maintained” or something. Awful behaviour.

What always freaks me out is people considering their government worse than the likes of Meta, Palantir, Google, Microsoft… At least you can vote (hopefully) for a different government. The problem is when the companies are able to buy governments, like USA is.
