It makes a cat run on my screen all day. It was there when I took this screenshot.
nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.deto Jellyfin: The Free Software Media System@lemmy.ml•Music recommendation / auto playlistEnglish3·26 days agoThis may not be what you want but I use Feishin client on my desktop, and it has button to play random songs. I just click it, select a range of release year and then select the number of songs I want. It automatically creates a temporary playlist. I think it also has a genre selection, so this might help you.
nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.deto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do push notifications work the way they do2·27 days agoCan’t do it with random apps, but most FOSS apps, like Molly (fork of Signal), Element (matrix protocol), Tusky (for Mastodon), etc. use this.
I think using it for discord can be possible, but you would have to set up your own notification server. Like for Signal chats, there has to be another server between my notification server and Signal’s server (MollySocket), which listens to the notifications and sends it to my Ntfy. You will have to set something up that is always online waiting for new messages, and when new message arrives, it pings your Ntfy, and Ntfy pings your phone.
nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.deto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do push notifications work the way they do3·27 days agoNtfy exists. I use it for 3-4 apps.
What is the difference between an application and a program?
Somehow, this reminded me of the Kitchen Gun video by BBC.
Mullvad. It’s cheaper than Proton. But Proton has more servers. Like Proton even provies Indian IPs, but the servers are hosted in Singapore, which may be something people need, as Mullvad do not have any servers with Indian IPs.
You can also try IVPN, it is almost same like Mullvad, no email for account, pay using Monero etc, but you can get a one week subscription for $2.

You must first invent the universe.

I have been using Mullvad Extended for a long time. It is great, but does have many false positives. They sometimes block some Indian government domains.
I would say DoT is more than fine. Here are their official instructions.
Which theme is it? I cannot find good Win7 Aero themes.

nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.deOPto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Camel Chat: Talk to you own Ollama server7·3 months agoMy app is nothing compared to the features Open WebUI. I just wanted to make a simple native app. Honestly, I made this just because I wanted to see if I can make something like that.
Also, Open WebUI is slightly complex for someone who is not into self-hosting. My app is for someone who just installs Ollama on their laptop or any computer and has exposed it to on the local network.
nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.deOPto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Camel Chat: Talk to you own Ollama server2·3 months agoThat’s odd. I did test it on Mint.
Can you run it via a terminal and tell me if it shows any errors?
nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.deto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Repurposing an old Alienware r8English2·4 months agoI have used an old MacBook Air as a home server with Fedora for about 2 years. Fedora with Podman can be great, especially when you can use Cockpit (a GUI for managing containers), which is pre-installed and perfectly integrated.
Another option is to use TrueNAS. I can also recommend OpenMediaVault.
For exposing your services on the internet I suggest caution. If your ISP does not let you forward your ports, you can read this. https://blog.aiquiral.me/bypass-cgnat
What are you gifting them?

Good thing it was banned in India, a few years ago.
