Not really, I’m reading more about them, aside from the USSR and Cuba I’m not that familiar aside from some general knowledge in them. Neither Cuba nor the USSR I would consider free. Just is debatable, but I can see the point. But I should probably read more about the rest of the examples

Well, most of those I could at some point agree on just, but definitely not free. And the USSR in particular i would not say just either. Holodomor and all that.
Those being anarchists, not socialists. There have been shitloads of anarchist communes working perfectly, until some external force fucks them up or reclaims the land or whatever.
I asked specifically for socialist ones.
What do you mean patriot?
So, which part is the just and free part that you mention, outside of the theory? As in, in detail, practical examples of those freedoms and justice, please. Besides the theoritscl “to each according to their needs, from each according to their possibilities” (sorry if misstranslated), what practical examples have been just and free throughout time.
Name one single socialist revolution that didn’t start as a violent dictatorship. You can’t.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I'm new to lemmy, came from reddit. What's the lemmy etiquette like? How different is it from reddiqutte?
5·12 days agoThat is not necesarily true. An admin of an instance definitely can sell info. Same for respecting privacy. You do have more freedom though, since it’s federated, you can research whichever server you think aligns with your views/needs and choose that one while still interacting with the rest.

Technology@lemmy.world•Thank Mozilla for Killing Localization on Support Mozilla (And Replacing Human Contributions With AI Bots)English
2·13 days agoI have worked both as a professional translator in works not related to software and as a software developer, and also have participaded on open source public project translated by the community with weblate.
There is NO WAY at all that the AI translations are worse. DeepL has been powering your human translators pretty much since it released, and LLMs are way better at translating than the average Joe.
Most of those weblate managed translations I mentioned were absolute dogshit. Done by humans, done with passion and good intention (most of the time, some of the languages we did know less about had stuff that had nothing to do with the original texts).
Like, people assume since they speak a language that they are able to translate that language and that is not true.
Unless Mozilla had full time, proper translators working, the quality con only increase by using AI.
And if they did, they can sack most of the team, leave one per language, and have them review the translations, and they would save massive amounts of money. And like it or not, open source needs money to run.
