Is it going to be a general purpose file server? A media server through jellyfin, etc.? If a media server, do you need to transcode?

3·18 days agoAlso alert your friends/colleagues that there are IMEI/IMSI scanners at the event, so that they can prepare accordingly by leaving their phone at home, putting it in a farraday bag, etc.

5·26 days agoThanks for the advice. Currently, I have a backup of all of my important data on a high capacity HDD that is completely disconnected from any devices. There is no real way to automate backups with that setup, but it’s what I am working with at the moment.

2·26 days agoAmazing, thanks for sharing. I understand Riseup and Disroot and the missions of each, but I’m having a bit of trouble with Tildeverse , likely because I am not well versed in *nix operating systems as of yet. I’m going to commence to reading up on all of these!

1·27 days agoI have set up KeePassXC and KeepassDX, but that’s about as far as I have gotten thus far. I’m currently trying to figure out Obsidian for notes and a general knowledge base.

As far as I can tell, the server is not accessible to anyone who is not on my home network. I only access it on devices that are on my home network.
No, I didn’t do any configuration whatsoever with my router.
