Kessler Syndrome anyone?
There’s not really a threat in geostationary orbits. It’s a much bigger area with far fewer satellites.
However, the decay is horrible (or non-existant).
Depending on how many pieces it broke into that slot in the Geobelt is probably going to be unusable for years or decades.
