Are there any well regarded brands in the EU that sell high quality short?
Love my Dickies shorts because I’ve found them to be well made and long lasting but am considering options if I can find equivalent products.
I bought linen shorts recently from la Gentle Factory
They are all made in France, even the fabric is made in France in most cases.
Tom Tailor! Might not be the cheapest but daaamn they are comfortable and durable!
The athletic/weightlifting style shorts from decathlon are peak. Lightweight and stretchy where you need it.
I’ve had dickies but after decathlon I can’t go back. Sure maybe they won’t last 15 years but 3 seems reasonable for a nearly every day wear for me. And they’re still going.
You’d probably have to look at workwear to find something comparable to dickies, as dickies used to be workwear. But I feel you, I love my dickies shorts too and hope they last forever as I’m not going to buy new ones.
You didn’t say cheap just high quality, so merz b schwanen and sunspel are both made in Europe and both very high quality.
Also Varusteleka has some nice shorts. Pockets in the right places, comfy.
Love the Shorts and pants by Reell
I‘m a cargo pants and shorts guy and can attest them a lifetime of many years. Wearing mine for at least five years now.
Engelbert Strauss has great pants, they are specialised for work clothes but they have a lot of options.
If you like outdoor clothing i can recommend Fjallraven, however i am not sure what sort of shorts you are looking for
Fwiw, I believe they manufacture their stuff in China these days.
I believe you are right, however they are comitted to being sustainable.
Any experience on long-term durability? I’ve read quite a few negative comments online about their durability.
I’ve had my Fjällräven backpack for 8 years with more or less daily use for a large part of that lifespan. It could do with some minor repair, but it’s largely still going strong without any maintenance
Thanks for your input. I’m probably just gonna give it a try, digging a bit deeper I found a couple reviews saying durability is pretty bad and others saying it’s pretty great.
I have been using my fjallraven gear (pants, shorts, fleeces) for many years and they absolutely keep well. Use them hard on holidays in the scottish highlands and normallly during the year. If that makes sense
Hansen Garments are a bit upscale but their stuff is insanely well made and good looking. Each one I own feel like they will last me a lifetime.
Lol, was totally thinking shorting stocks for some reason. But you mean shorts as in pantaloons.
I have no recommendations as I’m across the pond
Is Pantaloon a real word? sounds like the Spanish one for trousers (pantalon)
here in the United States it generally means your underpants, but a lot of people in the northern appalachians will call any pants pantaloons
It’s real yes. Old timey word that I like using every now and then for fun :)
I was originally introduced to he word because of the Simpsons when Bart said 'must drop pantaloons '. I think Lisa was a witch or something. Can’t remember exactly.
