The first Android 16 developer preview adds an Audio Sharing feature that lets other people listen to your phone’s media along with you.
Finally, I can easily share my taste in porn with my friends, family, and colleagues.
i dont’ care wacha all say. It will never beat a hard-wired connection.
For listening with one pair of headphones I agree, but if I want to share audio with multiple people this is definitely gonna be better than using the splitters and have the audio be quieter.
Fuck yes. Finally!
I got a feeling this is gonna be annoying as hell, given various timing delays from different devices.
Hell, my matching earbuds can’t even stay in phase half the time.
Huh. It never occurred to me to wonder how my earbuds keep in sync.
Unfortunately my left one won’t charge anymore, but when it did, half the time it wouldn’t sync up in time with my right one.
They’re not exactly name brand, so I can’t complain much, but yeah that can be an issue, and it’s really annoying to listen to when they don’t exactly sync up.
Mine were like $20, so I didn’t expect much. Similar boat, I think.
Does my phone connect to both earbuds individually, or is one the primary and it passes on the audio to the other?
The latter.
That I do not know. Mine were advertised as being able to individually connect to two different devices, but I never tested that supposed feature.
Sigh, left one now dead, guess I’ll never get to test that ☹️
It’s using LE Audio, which is a new tech explicitly designed for this. Syncing audio should not be an issue, at least once it has some time to mature and client devices improve support https://www.bluetooth.com/blog/10-frequently-asked-questions-on-le-isochronous-channels/
Won’t matter that much for just sharing music/tv/movie/youtube with a friend in public
They’ll just end up charging extra for sharing your media with friends.
Not immediately. Gotta give that teaser trial to hook you…
This is literally already a feature on samsung’s OneUI, I use it to watch movies with the wife on airplanes and the like. Sync issues between bluetooth devices would only be a problem if you were trying to use it for like a surround system or something.
We’re approaching versions of android that are difficult to differentiate from Dragon Ball Z characters.
My device updated to 15 and I couldn’t even tel.
Most of the changes that I saw were pretty much not included in AOSP.
the fanart for 18 is going to be interesting…further investigation will be required.
Why does my phone keep showing me pictures of birds?
I can already do this on my Samsung Galaxy S23. Has this been a Samsung-only thing?
That being said, Samsung’s Bluetooth UI leaves much to be desired, IMO.
Edit: Granted, it doesn’t work exactly as described in the article, but I can have multiple BT speakers playing the same content from my phone.
I can do this with my Note 20 ultra. It’s a Bluetooth 5 feature. We can also have multiple sources connected to one speaker. This all has nothing to do with Android 16.
Yeah Airpods/iPhones have had this for almost a half decade, I am just as confused, seeing everybody act like this is brand new and mind-bending tech.
iPhones have had it with only airpods/beats
