Hunting is ineffective because state wildlife management agencies intentionally keep the deer population high, for hunters. Contraception is far superior in controlling population.

Deer are basically free range livestock.
They’re destructive to crops and vehicles, if the population isn’t controlled.
Once a license is purchased, you get 3 tags. If you’re donating to a charity, you can harvest beyond 3.
We have more deer than people here, and we have a lot of food insecurity. Hunters for the hungry feeds a lot of poor people here.

Deer actually do more damage to vehicles and cities during hunting season because they are scared put of their habitat.
Hunting is more expensive than buying food when you factor in time and everything else, this has been proven countess times.

First, wrong region. I’m not in an urban region of Canada, I’m in a rural part of a red state.
2nd, the expense is negligible. We already have the equipment necessary for harvesting deer, and the skill to field strip the useful meat and preserve it.
As far as time, I can leave out on a hunting trip Saturday morning, return Sunday evening, and be at work Monday morning.
