    I know it says “based on” an xkcd comic, but this feels like a blatant ripoff

      Xkcd comics are published under one of the CC licenses (forget which one). It’s arguable this kind of thing may be an intended reuse.

      So how would you make a homage at an old jobs by bringing it into the now times without copying the joke and replacing parts of it?

      I mean, the author was good enough to actually made a decent edit of it that doesn’t feel cheap, and did put proper credits at it Hard for me to consider it a ripoff

          That… that is the punchline. It being the same punchline is the punchline of this joke. It’s commentary as humor.
