I’m running a home space with jellyfin and navidrome on a Pi5. Until now it’s been perfectly fine playing local and normally streaming to a single device at a time. The online support and off the shelf peripheries for troubleshooting the pi is also great!

I went to plug a 5TB drive into the pi the other day and it unmounted the SSD that was already plugged in. To me this is a sign that it is not build to handle more rigorous tasks (e.g. streaming to multiple devices, whilat performing a back up).

I probably won’t be swapping the system anytime soon, but I would go for a refurbed mini PC if I could go back in time.

Although predominantly about coal, it mentions the end of the fossil era and the hydrocarbon experts as a group.

The article cleverly uses the rut of coal too the rest of the fossil industry, but I think this is not (yet) the case.

Coal is dead, gas is not. It will be the resilient goddamn cockroach running along the floor because some clown with the keys to the European Parliament will always yell that we need base load coverage capacity in fossils.

Then we’ll import it at a stupid price from one genocidal maniac or the other and be told to be happy we are paying 8x the cost of pretty much any other modern production method. Worst part is, it’s just as dirty as coal when it comes shipped in.

IMO the obvious course is:

1. Talk with your boss that it’s affecting your productivity.
2. Encourage your colleagues to talk to their boss.

Leading to your bosses ideally addressing this with his boss and if that doesn’t help then your bosses should bring in HR.

I was not aware of those companies being successful. Not to doubt you, but what were those companies called and are any of them existing now? And we’re they financially viable without subsidies at the time?

The optics remain important. You don’t want to do this too blatantky because there are legitimate Chinese business sectors which we cannot re-create in Europe without their expertise. Batteries and solar production are the hot topics at the moment.

I’d argue that removing firms from public tender agreements is a lower action than outright assuming ownership of a foreign firm’s domestic assets.

See, that’s the thing. It IS (relatively) easy to achieve, just those who benefit aren’t in charge.

There are enough solar panels, wind turbine manufacturers AND battery manufacturers to probably immediately kill a significant portion of fossil energy needs for power generation. But grid build-out and modernisation is still needed behind that.

It’s already being done in combination, and we suspect some of it is re-flagged Russian fuel anyways.

We should de-carbonize the economy instead.

A general rule I hold is when companies are complaining about “remaining competitive” as a reason against regulation, you can ignore it.

When they are complaining about “regulatory burden” then it can be worth listening to. The EU has done some fantastic regulations (e.g. USB-C via the radio directive) but also some notably poor ones that it is worth listening to the complaints on (e.g. Medical Device Regulation).

The complexity also comes from significant overlap of regulation (e.g RoHS, REACH, WEEE, POP, Battery regulation etc.).

Outside of peak season it can be beautiful. It still holds historical significance and has some incredibly well preserved architecture.

Looking briefly, it appears the current owner basically bought the company out of bankruptcy. It doesn’t appear that the motors are particularly novel.

The owner is a dual German/Chinese national, be was done so at a time of amicable relations. Even today such a sale would (IMHO) likely not be seen as geopolitically significant.

Your points are valid, the discount price is questionable. This is not my area of expertise, I only wanted to question if the headline was reactionary or if I missed something.

Is the 10% new shares issued specifically for the government? I understood they were existing shares so dilution would not apply here.
